BIOGRAPHY

THE STORYTELLER STORY

Leandro Arvelo is a storyteller with an interesting journey. He has been involved in telling stories behind and in front of the camera wearing several hats.

As an actor, he was first known for the movie ¨A House with a View of the Sea¨ (2001) that he did when he was a child. He would later star in the films ¨Francisco de Miranda¨ (2006), ¨Cyrano Fernández¨ (2007), ¨Lo que tiene el otro¨ (2008), ¨Rock, Paper, Scissors¨ ( 2012), ¨The Liberator¨ (2013), and ¨Tamara¨ (2016).

He also played different characters in short films like ¨Lady in White ¨ (2015),

¨I wonder how it was¨ (2016)¨ and ¨You Usually Leave Me¨ (2018).

On television, Leandro starred in ¨ Los Ultimos¨ (2001), ¨Historias del Mas Acá ¨ (2011),

¨Luisa¨ (2016). He was last seen in the TV movie adaptation ¨Wuthering Heights¨ (2019).

Behind the camera, he worked as an art director in the film ¨Samuel¨ (2011), and as an assistant director in the short films ¨El Niño¨ (2014) and ¨Blodimery ¨ (2016).

He worked as an acting coach for children on the short films ¨Crabs' Flight ¨ (2015)

and ¨Keep Out of Children's Reach¨ (2017). He also worked as an editor in the short film

¨Tisure¨ (2015) and the documentary feature ¨Juan¨ (2019), participating as part of the

executive production department.

Finally, Leandro recently co-directed the mid-length film ¨The Cure¨ (2019)

with Danay Garcia for TIH Productions (TIH). This was the first film produced by TIH

and is where Leandro now works developing new projects in different formats

alongside Garcia. He is currently working post-production for the “Danay Garcia Podcast” at TIH.

He is originally from Venezuela and now lives in the United States.

THE CURE

Co Director - 2019

This was my first experience as a director. The whole journey makes me grew in many areas throughout the process. Staring in the scouting for locations until the festival promotion and distribution.

JUAN

Writer- Producer- 2019

Juan is a Documentary Feature where I learn deeply about the dramatic structure of nonfiction movies. It was a great job for experimenting with telling the story of a visual artist that passed away more than 20 years ago.

WUTHERING HEIGHTS

Lead Actor - 2019

For me was interesting to play a character like Felipe in this TV adaptation of this classic. It was really challenging the shooting schedule and the extreme emotions that come with the part.

YOU USUALLY LEAVE ME

Lead Actor - 2018

Lioh Navarro's first short film let me explore a person's feelings that suffer that he doesn't belong to any place, between leaving his country or stating.

THE CARDBOARD MAN

Casting Director - 2017

This is my last contribution to Michael Labarca's imagination.

I really enjoy working with him. I just help to find part of the cast for the short film.

KEEP OUT OF CHILDREN REACH

Acting Coach - 2017

This was so much fun. It's a terror-dark comedy short. Involving some Christmas elements. I worked with the two child actors hand in hand with the director of the film.

El VUELO DE LOS CANGREJOS

I really learn and remember many things when I worked with child actors. In this case, any of the children have previous experience, so they were full of intuition and freedom.

I WONDER HOW IT WAS

It's the first time I play a character that has my name. This short has an experimental "mise en scène" with a wonderful turning point at the end.

TAMARA

Supporting Actor - 2016

I think this film's plot is really interesting. It's base on a real story about a transgender lawyer in Sie's journey of identity. I play a travesty that interacts with sie. It was an exciting challenge.

TISURE

Co-Writer - Editor- 2015

This is a narrative story with experimental cinematography. Created in the middle of a documentary investigation. Long wide shoot in a beautiful mountain paradise: Tisure.

THE LIBERATOR

Supporting Actor - 2013

I play Fernando. A character that represents the young people in the independence movement of Latin America. A person that grows up in a constant war and at the final stages felt it wasn't worth it.

ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS

Lead Actor - 2012

In this film, I play Christian. A guy that is kind of always in the wrong place. Somebody who is followed by the problems. This movie occurred in one day. The worst day in Christian life.

SAMUEL

Art Director - September 2011

I really appreciate this movie. It was an amazing opportunity for development. I was an art director with the help of an entire community, a remote town in the mountains where the story took place.
